Experience the Legendary Yankee Doodle Tap Room
Located in the heart of Palmer Square, and recognized as the central meeting place. The Yankee Doodle Tap Room enjoys a long tradition as Princeton's destination for casual dining.
The Tap Room houses the largest Norman Rockwell mural commissioned by Edgar Palmer in the mid-1930’s after the Yankee Doodle Tap Room was named. Today, this famous piece of American art history continues to hang 13 feet wide behind the bar in the Yankee Doodle Tap Room. The Tap Room’s timeless charm includes the names and dates of Princeton University alumni carved into the solid oak tabletops and the photo gallery of notable Princeton University graduates from the past century.
On the other end of the restaurant is a wooden hearth on the fireplace inscribed with the text:
"Rest Traveller, Rest, and Banish Thoughts of Care;
Drink to Thy Friends and Recommend Them Here."
This quote was drawn from an old English inn near Oxford, and dates back to 1937, when Nassau Inn was rebuilt on Palmer Square. The fireplace beneath is lit during the winter months, and provides welcoming warmth to the guests.
An American Continental menu is offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as for in-room and private dining at this Princeton restaurant. You can now enjoy 22 world beers on tap and a variety of wines and specialty drinks, a cozy seasonal fireplace, and 5 large HDTVs broadcasting sporting events through the year.
In May of 2010 The Yankee Doodle Tap Room added al fresco dining, which Nassau Inn guests and the downtown Princeton community enjoy from 7am-10pm. The patio hosts seasonal beer tastings and live music throughout the summer.
